Catan, lets settle this.

One of the more popular game series, The Settlers of Catan, has been seen at every game store. This resources gathering game is filled with hours of laughs, everything from gathering wood and sheep to building roads out of wheat. Catan has lots of jokes with every die roll.

The Settlers of Catan is a simple game to play.  The map is made of several hexagonal pieces, each of which has a different resource (wood, wheat, sheep, brick, and iron) and a number (2 through 12). The goal of the game is the first person with 10 points wins. How do you make points? There are several ways, each Settlement is worth 1 point, each city is worth 2 points, the person with the longest road is worth 2 points, and the person with the largest army is worth 2.

Each player takes a turn rolling the dice and handing out the resource to anyone that has settlement or city on the location with the same number as the rolled dice. The active player, the one that rolled the dice, can build and/or trade with the other player. Quite simple, right? Well, this game has to deal with luck. This game can turn on a dime.

The Settlers of Catan is such a great game for everyone in the family because, it has an easy to read rules, has simple rule that everyone can understand, each game usually doesn’t last more than an hour, and no two games with play the same.

The Settlers of Catan is:
Luck: 9.5 out of 10
Strategy: 6 out of 10
Skill: 4 out of 10
Complexity: 4 out of 10
Player size 2 to 4 (6 w/ expansion)

I would have to give The Settlers of Catan a 9 out of 10

Welcome back

First off, I would like to apologize for the long wait. I will be posting again starting today. I have several games to report. Many of which are classics, which you may have played. Other that are new and people may had reservation to play.

I know it be over a year, but I though with the year starting so great, I would start up again.

To hit the ground running, I have two classic games to report. First, a lovely classic that everyone loves or have never played. If you guessed Catan, you right. Almost everyone has played it and loved it. It was even shown on the Big Bang Theory. This resource management game is fun, but is more luck then skill. I will be posting it around 6pm tomorrow.

Also because of the long delay I will also post a new game that I have come to love. Mansions of madness, based off of Lovecraft’s New York Mythos, is a fast pace RPG board game which involves a Gamemaster “KEEPER” and up to 4 players “INVESTIGATER”.

Hope to see you later, until then

AMC The Walking Dead Board Game

To sum up the game; I don't have to out run the zombies, I just have to out run you. In this fast pace game you run from one location to the next. To win the game you have to go to all four locations and return to camp. Just like the tv series, you'll find allies and tools to help fight the zombie hordes. The big catch is the other players can help as much as hinder. If one of you friends died, watch out, he'll become a zombie.

Walking Living Impaired

Do you love comics? Do you love zombies? Do you love board games? Say hello to the super combo. The Walking Dead board game, made by Z-man Games, is an interesting adventure board game that gives you all three and more.

Much like the story in the comics, you start off running around trying to find a safe haven. As you run around trying to find a new home, you will meet new people (followers), obtain equipment, and of course, fight zombies. It would not be a good zombie game if you did not fight a zombie or two or a hundred.

You and your group of followers will have to maintain resource. There is three resources you will have to use to survive this zombie apocalypse. First, fuel, the world is a big place and the best way to make tracks is by means of four wheels. Second, food, just because the walking dead are eating away at you does not mean you should not have a meal here and there. Last, ammo, the most important way to survive any zombie horde is a well-placed bullet.

Encountering zombies is the easy part, living through the encounter is the challenge. In this game, there is no comparison. Every time you go to find resourses to stock up on, expect some teeth waiting to take a bite out of you. Some of the encounters aren't just zombies, you'll have to deal with the humans, too. Low resources, in fighting, and evern getting split up can be just as threating. So watch your step.

This game is filled with zombies. So come join the horde and moan along to this entertaining game.
