AMC The Walking Dead Board Game

To sum up the game; I don't have to out run the zombies, I just have to out run you. In this fast pace game you run from one location to the next. To win the game you have to go to all four locations and return to camp. Just like the tv series, you'll find allies and tools to help fight the zombie hordes. The big catch is the other players can help as much as hinder. If one of you friends died, watch out, he'll become a zombie.

Walking Living Impaired

Do you love comics? Do you love zombies? Do you love board games? Say hello to the super combo. The Walking Dead board game, made by Z-man Games, is an interesting adventure board game that gives you all three and more.

Much like the story in the comics, you start off running around trying to find a safe haven. As you run around trying to find a new home, you will meet new people (followers), obtain equipment, and of course, fight zombies. It would not be a good zombie game if you did not fight a zombie or two or a hundred.

You and your group of followers will have to maintain resource. There is three resources you will have to use to survive this zombie apocalypse. First, fuel, the world is a big place and the best way to make tracks is by means of four wheels. Second, food, just because the walking dead are eating away at you does not mean you should not have a meal here and there. Last, ammo, the most important way to survive any zombie horde is a well-placed bullet.

Encountering zombies is the easy part, living through the encounter is the challenge. In this game, there is no comparison. Every time you go to find resourses to stock up on, expect some teeth waiting to take a bite out of you. Some of the encounters aren't just zombies, you'll have to deal with the humans, too. Low resources, in fighting, and evern getting split up can be just as threating. So watch your step.

This game is filled with zombies. So come join the horde and moan along to this entertaining game.

October Celebration OCP1

In honor of this spooky month of October, I will be posting four articles of a special RPG. I have been playing this dark gothic adventure RPG for over two years. Every minute was an amazing horrifying thrill. This series of RPG I am referring to is the Dark Heresy System. The four books are Dark Heresy, Rogue Trader, Death Watch, and the newest of the series Black Crusade. Each one has a unique play style of the 41st millennium.

Dark Heresy, the beginning of the dark journey, takes you to a far-away future. It is grim. It is dark. It has hope. It has you! You, an Acolyte of an Inquisitor, are sent across the galaxy fight Mutants, Renegades, Xenos, and Daemons. No normal human should fight these threats of the Imperium. That’s why they send you, an expendable normal human. Your only hope is the equipment the inquisitor gave you, the wisdom the Imperium taught you, and the will of the Emperor himself.

Dark Heresy is a simple 100 percentile system which uses two dice. One is a 10-sided die and the other is a Tens 10-sided die. Each character has nine starting stats. Similar to Warhammer 40k, each one of these stats has a unique purpose: Ballistic Skill, how well you shoot a gun; Weapon Skill, how good your batting average is; Strength, how hard you hit things; Toughness, how well you can take a hit; Agility, how well you can dodge a hit; Perception, how well you can see the attack coming; Intelligence, how well you can understand and know the world around you; Willpower, how well you stand up to scary monsters; and Fellowship, how well you talk to people. All these characteristic are used to keep you alive and sane, you hope.

Now for the bad part, when a human deals with these monsters and mutants, the fragile mind begins to crack. There are two pools that hurt the player, Insanity points and Corruption points. These two pools build up when dealing with the monsters and the evil of the universe. If you have too much Corruption the dark gods have hold of you and use you to complete their evil deeds. If Insanity is too high, you go insane.

As an Acolyte for the Inquisitor you are derived from several different aspects of the Imperium. There are eight classes: Adept, is the scholar; Arbitator, is the justice; Assassin, is death; Cleric, is the holy man; Guardsman, is the soldier; Psyker, is monster within man; Scum, is the corrupted; and Tech-Priest, is the engineer. Each one of these classes is important to complete the missions the Inquisitor. For you mission is Justus and Holy.

Your mission is of the most important, you are not. If you died, you will be replaced. The universe is plentiful of humans; the Inquisitor can find someone else. In the 41st millennium there is only war.

Mr Jack, In New York?

Mr. Jack, or as he is known here as Francis J. Tumblety, a quack docter on the run from London is now making his way to New York. “Jack the Ripper” as investigators call him, is trying to disappear into the land of the free. New York police, alerted by London, are on the look out for Jack. Eight suspects are now under surveillance by New York’s finesse, but there not much time.

This two player investigation game is a good way to have fun with a short amount of time. With six pages of reading you can easy get started within 15 minutes. The game last only about 30 minutes long and can have many different ways to play. You play as ether the Detective or as Jack. The Detective has to look through the eight suspects alibis and make a valuable assumption of who is Jack. They only have eight turns to find Jack or the case runs cold. Time isn’t the only enemy that the detective has, Jack wants to get out of the Manhattan area. If Jack can go into the shadows and find an exit route, then jack can leave the detective in his dust.

The players take turns moving pieces and finding out through “leads” if jack has an alibi or not. Each player takes control of a piece which will move and make a special action. These actions can move other pieces or build new development. This means the map is always changing and moving. Oh, did I mention an informant? The investigator has an informant that he can rely on. With the alibis, the changing map, and the informant; the detective has some hope to finding out who's Jack, but will he make it in time?

If you and a friend are looking for a fun investigative game, then look no further than Mr Jack, New York N.Y. Jan 4, 6:30am 1889.

Language with in a Language

If you ever have taken a second language, you’ll find that each very from your own. How much, you ask. Well his is dependent on the language and the culture it comes from. Just looking around your own community you’ll find that their people with different dialect from your own. In Kentucky, you’ll hear “howdy”. In Idaho you hear “good day”. In New York, if hey have time, you’ll hear “hello”. Non-the-less for each language there is a ‘sub’ language.
An interesting language, Japanese also falls under these same rules of ‘sub’ languages. After reading the article about the Japanese language and a single Japanese person uses less then ten percent of all the Kanji in there entire life, it count my attention. (JNT.com) I would image that these same ‘sub’ language rule make up for this small percentage. Japanese may not have overlapping ways to say hello, but they may over lap in there meaning.
Language, no matter the origin, have there own means to communicate your thoughts. The only think that really make the difference is, does the audience understand what you know.

Shogun Reborn

Have you ever taken a risk or better yet have you played Risk? If you have and you love it, here is a game that has a feudal Japanese twist to it. Inspired by Shogun by Queen Games and Samurai Swords by Milton Bradley. Ikusa, once more a reincarnation by Wizards of the Coast brings a new look to the classic games. With new color and easy to differentiate figures, Ikusa has an amazing new look that will make you think you're one of the powerful warlords.

This fun and intense strategy game will keep you and your friend’s on their toes. I've played many times so far and intend on many more in the future. So of you love strategy games, feudal Japan, and having fun for many hours, you may want to invest in this game.

The Twist of Avatars

Wyrd Miniatures has created a new and imaginative way to play the game. The long and highly anticipated Avatars have been revealed. These powerful forms of your favorite characters are now useable through the Twisting Fates Malifaux rulebook; each one has a new and more devastating way to play the game. To unleash your Avatar, your character has to complete one to two requirements to transform into their Avatars. I can't wait to try them out.
Besides the new Avatars, Wyrd Miniatures included a new horse man, a doll for each faction, and Sue. If you ever heard of Johnny Cash this character is a tribute to the man.
If you love the Malifaux story, you guessed it, there’s more. Half of this new book is mostly fluff. Enjoy.
